Olga Chekotovska was born in Kyiv 23th of September 1987. From 2004 till 2009 she studied law at the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman. From 2010 till 2013 she took post-graduate course at the Institute of State and Law named after V.M. Koretsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, simultaneously studying art history and taking academical drawing classes at the studio of Olena Bondarevska.
In 2013 she was a volunteer at Paweł Althamer’s project “Draftsmen’s Congress” at National Art Museum of Ukraine. From 2014 till 2015 was a volunteer in Сultural project in the following courses: Philosophy of XX-XXI century; on first name terms with contemporary art (curating by Alevtina Kakhidze); New art school: Liquid city (curating Ianina Prudenko). At the same year she participated in the following courses at Cultural project: Inner Lanscape with Tania Goryushina, Studio visit with Liza German and Maria Lanko. In 2015 she was a free listener of Ianina Prudenko’s course “History of media art” at the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University.
From 16.04. till 29.04. .2015 had an internship as mediator at Shcherbenko Art Centre, «Paper, World, Art” at Book Arsenal.
From 2014 till 2015 studied art at School of Contemporary Art at Modern Art Research Institute of Ukrainian Academy of Arts (Kyiv, Ukraine)
From 2016 till 2018 cofounder and curator of art-group Light (mentor of the group Myroslav Vayda). With art-group Light Olga performed range of exhibitions such as “Place. Time”, “In Silence”, “Her Space” and public art installation “Rain” at The M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden (2016). Simultaneously she developed individual projects and took part in the festivals (International landa art symposium Mogritsa with the works “Devastation” (2017) and “Time Heals” (2018)) and group exhibitions. In 2017 she became a finalist of IV Ukrainian contest in contemporary art for young artists named after Nathan Altman (Vynnitsa, Ukraine)
Since 2018 she became a writer for online magazine ArtUkraine. Since 2019 she is a writer in “Artkursyv” magazine and founder of Instagram blog on contemporary art.
Olga Chekotovska work with such media as installation, objects, photography. In her works such categories as time, memory, choice play a key role. Another important element is surrounding landscape, where she founds objects for her pieces to create her own reflection on the issues that contemporary human tackle with. Olga Chekotovska works and lives in Kyiv (Ukraine) and Düsseldorf(Germany)
