Collateral damages, 2021- 2022

Photography

During art residency in Mariupol I accidentally started to take photos of dead jellyfish that looked like skulls. Term  “Collateral damages” struck my mind. Sometimes I saw dead birds, actually there were lots of dead birds in Mariupol. I left the city with very enthusiastic feelings. I planned to come back and thought that all these collateral damages  in the city were just an echo of past events when pro-Russian separatists tried to occupy the city in 2014. Unfortunately, nowadays these photos are a metaphor of thousands of victims. Mariupol and its residents have become real collateral damages of the Russian war in Ukraine.
